Description

Before the pandemic (and 2020) I was involved in a few humanitarian initiatives and had really felt like a change maker, as a student and volunteer. Unfortunately things changed, what with us being indoors and such, and I realised the part I played didn’t really help much. I chose my poster and artworks for the #MigranJugaManusia online protest as it documents the raids on undocumented migrants. The event was really heartbreaking to watch as Malaysia was just beginning to get better with handling issues with the undocumented or the refugees. The whole event really felt like watching progress take 10 steps back, and there wasn’t anything I as an individual could do about it… except draw. Because while these groups of people really needed to get tested, it wasn’t right for the larger public to support the govt’s decision to round them up like sheep to the slaughter house.
